Several things you complained about are exactly what makes Ruth's a treasure. The boiling liquid fat is butter, arteries beware but it it oh so good. In my opinion by far the best red meat, be it Chicago, WDC to Palm Springs, Atlanta and Los Angeles, San Diego and Hawaii I know I will find the same flawless meal where ever I find a Ruth's As for the sides, I am frequently offended by the creepy steamed veggies forced upon me in other establishments, at Ruth's you may order what you wish and find them large enough to share. This is an adult establishment and I don't think a kid would enjoy the experience. - Is follow up to post by judym ...
My boss gave me the choice of dinner at any restaurant for my birthday. I had heard Ruch's Chris Steak House advertised on the radio and it sounded great... Unfortunately, I ordered a rib-eye that came boiling in fat. Then, after the waiter had placed it on the plate, he poured the liquid fat all over the steak, ruining it. Because I was a woman alone with a child (well behaved 11 year old), we were left alone most of the evening. You need to bring hiking shoes to get to the restroom, and it felt very creepy to be alone in a dark hallway away from people, just to get to the restrooms. The seating was comfortable. The portions are huge, you can't get a steak and vegetables for one meal, you are supposed to buy several items to feed four or more. Bad decision for a couple, or a single diner. Very disappointed!! Would never go there again, or refer anyone there. -- 5/10/2002 3:39:42 PM
